Around the House - Spring

Spring began with a bit of the winter's snow on the ground – but on March 1, the first day of meteorological spring, geese were going over on their way north and, in the garden, the buds of a number of flowers were above ground. Early spring saw quite a bit of rain, and then the rain ceased so late spring was very dry, rainfall was one and a half inches below normal.

This was the second season of my latest photo-a-day-for-a-year project, the first three months of the project can be seen here. All the photographs were taken within 200 feet of our back door; some on the lawn, some in the garden, some in the forest, and a few at our tiny pond. Images from the camera traps above the house are noted at the end of the post.

Presenting the photographs from around the house that were taken during the second three months of this project –

Spring is my favorite season as birds in breeding plumage either
take up residence or pass through on their way north, wildflowers and garden flowers bloom, deciduous trees leaf out, insects become active as do reptiles and amphibians. Unfortunately spring gives way to my least favorite season: summer with its heat, humidity and haze – UGH!

If you’ve found the photo-a-day-for-a-year posts interesting, have you thought about trying a similar project yourself? These endeavors are interesting and rewarding, you don’t have to have a blog or similar way to share your photos with others. I choose to take photos of nature, but there’s no reason you couldn’t do something similar with historic buildings, or churches, or dogs, or street signs, or … And they don’t have to be great photos, they only have to be interesting to you or bring back memories.

I rather post what is going on with us. My hubby and kids read my blog. Plus stuff I need to remember!

  3. I take a lot of photos and it's hard to keep up with which ones I want to share. I love your idea and everything you see. The Red Fox really is a favorite among these photos.
