Circle of the Seasons - Spring

A couple of years ago I undertook a project to take a photograph of the natural world each day of the year. It was a challenge and, at the same time, very satisfying. The results: The Round of the Year, were posted here, here, here and here. That project was based on the astronomical seasons delineated by the solstices and the equinoxes, typically beginning about March 21, June 21, September 21 and December 21.

Here, in northcentral Pennsylvania, those dates have never seemed to relate very well with the seasons as we, or the natural world, experience them. And so I decided to undertake another project correlated with the meteorological seasons which begin on March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1.

Photographs from the spring of 2018 comprise this post of In Forest and Field; a few of the photographs are from my camera traps, those are listed at the end of the post. The spring of 2018 has been one of exceptionally warm days followed by cold and snow and then back to seasonal temperatures but also with lots of cool rainy days.

The plan is to continue this project throughout the year until the Circle of the Seasons is completed.
