I looked out expecting to see on of the many deer in our area, but instead saw what I now believe to be a Coywolf standing in the neighbors back yard. It ran off when it saw me, but returned about 10 minutes later at which time I took my dog in the house. My Coonhound weighs about 45 pounds, do you think she would be in any danger from the Coywolf?Joe Macalusohttp://www.fixitjoemac.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389594314135473379.post-53765495217522558232015-06-21T21:21:38.959-04:002015-06-21T21:21:38.959-04:00I think coywolves are in the Midwest also.Ohio Coy...I think coywolves are in the Midwest also.Ohio Coyotes average 40 pounds.the state is doing a dna study on them right now.I have caught some on my camera traps here on my land in Clermont county Ohio.many of them are very long legged and have wolfish faces.and have a lot of black blended in to a gold or brownish gray coat with white boots on their legs.I posted some photos on Flickr under unver27 if anyone is curious to see one from Ohio. These animals cause no problems here on my land.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16407045977474222708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389594314135473379.post-90070575499589525822014-01-17T07:16:27.675-05:002014-01-17T07:16:27.675-05:00Thanks Furry. They're very interesting critters and have fascinated me for years, and aren't the ogres that so many of our deer hunters think they are.

Just found your blog yesterday -- it's a good one. From the photos, the area where you are looks a lot like some of the country around here. Our Big Woods aren't as flat and rolling, but the farming country here looks just about the same. Wish we had some of the snow that you've gotten in your photos!Woody Meristemhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17042498252608254901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6389594314135473379.post-50349980905287193182014-01-16T21:48:01.531-05:002014-01-16T21:48:01.531-05:00Very interesting stuff!
